My Art Practice

Vikki Fellingham-Boyce is an artist, born in 1994 in the UK, where she lives, studies and works. When growing up she always had an interest in the arts and is currently furthering her artistic passion at Sheffield Hallam University on the BA Fine Art course.

Vikki experiments with many different techniques and materials to achieve her desired effect. She enjoys working with ink, magazines (collage), acrylic paint and with various other materials (for example Nylon) and loves to combine different elements to create abstract images often with vivid colours. The centre of her work is herself and how she experiences the world, usually trying to communicate concerns she has, for example concerns about body image and the media’s portrayal of women.

Vikki’s work is constantly developing and changing as she works to communicate her feelings in her work. Her most recent series of work are collages using women’s fashion magazines combined with other materials to communicate her feelings about her body image and how she sees these flawless women in the magazines. What stands out about her work is how she pulls together many different materials; some considered to be rubbish or everyday items, to create her work, rather than using the more traditional artist materials.

The main artists who influence Vikki’s work are: Barbara Kruger, Gerhard Richter, Yago Hortal, Anthony Gerace and Steve Salo. All of these artists in some way either use collage or paint to communicate issues or feelings, which is the aim of Vikki’s work.
